Who is Smarter Me?

As parents, we know how tough it is to find reliable, credible, passionate tutors and instructors for our children. At the same time, we were getting tired of hanging around the coffee shop waiting for our kids to be done with class – we wanted to be able to fill that time with something meaningful too! Smarter Me is an online marketplace where you can search for and book quality lessons and activities for your children and/or for yourself.

How are your instructors selected?

The Smarter Me team carefully curates and interviews each of the tutors, coaches, instructors that list on our site. Qualifications and certificates aside, we look for the X tri-factors - dedication, commitment and passion.

What do you charge?

Smarter Me does not charge learners any fee for using the Site. You only pay for classes that you book. The prices of the lessons are determined by the respective instructors and that is typically all you pay! For some lessons such as sports, there may be facility fees involved which may be in addition to the listed lessons fee. Please read the lesson details and/or confirm with the instructor prior to booking.

How do I pay?

We currently accept payment via credit and debit cards and Paypal. We use Braintree as our payments processing partner (so does Uber, Airbnb and many more!), so rest assured that your credit card data is safe and secure. Payment is only released to the instructor after your class is completed.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation policies vary by instructor, so please read their respective cancellation policy before booking. If you cancel within the specified cancellation period, you will be entitled to a credit refund for the entire amount that you used to book. You may use this credit to purchase other classes in the future.If you book an activity, but fail to cancel within the cancellation period and fail to show up, it will be labeled a “no show” and none of the amount paid will be refunded.While we currently do not have a strict limit on cancellation frequency, we will put serial offenders of cancellations on a watch list, in order for us to help protect the livelihood of the instructors on Smarter Me.If you have any cancellation or rescheduling issues, please contact us at hello@smarter.me

How long are my credits valid for and how do I use it?

Your credits are valid for 3 months. Simply enter in the promo code sent to you at the payment stage for your next purchase and the amount will automatically be deducted.

What if I need to reschedule a class?

From your student dashboard, you can message your instructor and request to reschedule a lesson. Do not cancel the class as that will be recorded as a cancellation. We are working on an automated rescheduling system and hope to roll that out very soon to make it easier for you and the instructors!

What if the instructor cancels the lesson?

In the unlikely event that an instructor cancels or reschedules a lesson, you will be promptly notified through email and we will refund you the full amount you paid to book your lesson in cash. Do note that we use a third party payment processor and the refund will take a few working days to appear in your account.

Why do I keep getting prompted to post a rating and review?

We are all part of this learning and growing community, and instructors rely on feedback and review to thrive and to improve. We also want to motivate good instructors when they deserve it! Your feedback will also help other learners in their decision making process.
